Charlie Wen Working On Thundercats Movie
Written by clare on December 29, 2008 – 11:30 pm -ThunderCats movie news coming from Hollywood suggests Charlie Wen is doing the concept work. He is most famous for his work on the Gatchaman movie as well as being illustrator for the Gods of War 1 and 2 games.
Charlie Wen is the second big name from the gaming world that Warners have signed up to work on the Thundercats movie after they signed up Gears of War art director Gerry O’Flagherty to direct Thundercats.
It’s believed the movie is attempting to pay homage to the original TV series while still receiving an update to the design.
Voice casting is now underway and announcements are imminent. Fingers crossed that Warners have listened to the fans and offered Larry Kenney, original voice of Lion-O the lead role.

sadly the movie will be entirely CG….I liked the idea of Vin Diesel as Panthro

i don’t want the new movie to be “real”
i want the movie to have the same roots but an updated new feel using CG.

Ok, this trailer is pretty damn hot!
April 10th, 2009 at 4:09 pm
Tell ya wot, that gets me well excited watchin that… CG is a bad idea, I’d want the movie to follow along the line of Transformers, from cartoon to full-on movie. The special effects, Mumra, the whole shabang would be collossal, just want something to kick ass on Marvel and DC Comics. Thundercats CG? NO NO NO!

Holy Crap!!! I really had no idea what to expect from this trailer about five minutes ago, but it is definately an excellent piece of work. Kudos to all involved; you guys kick major ass.

I think it would be better with real humans and not c.g

I grew up watching the series, so it was maybe one of my favorite cartoons to watch as a kid. So I think a Live-Action film (like transformers) would be way more appealing then a CG movie . But I’d take whatever is decided because any movie made about thundercats is better then none made at all.

Holy hell. I know it’s a fake but I so want to see the movie attached to that….
April 25th, 2009 at 8:15 pm
PLEASE!!!!!! Don’t make this movie CG!!! And whatever you do…please don’t have Brad Pitt play Lionel…lol!!! If the main characters don’t look as real as the cartoon series then fans will be in an uproar…TRUST ME!! Go all the way and cast REAL people….do Snarf like they did Garfield in CG and have the rest of the cast look and sound identical to the cartoon characters with a fantastic story of how they became the Thundercats and kick a$$ action and graphics and this movie will be CERTAIN to make millions upon millions. The fans have spoken…now ACTION!!!!!

OMG!!!!!! That was, by great leaps and bounds, the awesomest trailer I have ever seen that wasn’t corporate made! It just seemed so real that it made me utterly ecstatic to see the movie! Maybe the movie studio heads should shop around youtube to hire these types of true creative minds to write new movie adaptations and scripts…. This person needs to be hired and well paid by some studio executive! On another note, I am slightly disappointed to see that my beloved Thundercats may be in CG form in the near future… Apparently no one in Tinseltown has any type of foresight on the ramifications of a BADLY DONE CG MOVIE! Transformers was huge, largely due to Michael Bay and the man with the Midas movie touch Steven Speilberg. Or Tim Burton. Or any of the first four Harry Potter movie teams. Get them to make the movie. Or if they stubbornly stay with CG, at least get Pixar on it!!! These people’s talents are greatly prized and Oscar awarded for a reason!

For the live movie I hope they don’t screw up the cast. I had ideas for some time now.
Jaga: Patrick Stewart
Panthro: Michael Jai White
Lion-O: Ryan Reynolds
Cheetara: Former WWE wrestler Stacy Keibler
Tygra: Donnie Yen
WilyKit: Q’orianka Kilcher (A New World)
WilyKat: Taylor Lautner (Sharkboy)
Snarf: CGI (Voice : Damon Wayans)
Mumm-RA: The Mummy version: Gordon Liu
The Ever living: Nathan Jones
I also had the Mutants.
I wish I was in casting. this flick would be SICK!!

i realy loved the trealer but i would prefer someone else for the part of lion-o.i am looking forward for the movie is going to be great…….
June 16th, 2009 at 3:29 am
Please do not make CGI. it will not make as much money that it will if it’s real humans. Please show Marvel what WB is made of. PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE
June 21st, 2009 at 10:31 am
I have heard that this movie is now not being made due to budgetary problems
June 25th, 2009 at 2:34 pm
I too would prefer a live-action movie, but I wouldn’t mind a CGI film if it is well done. FF: The Spirit Within or FF7: Advent Children or Beowulf should be what they aim for, more photo-realistic than TNMT.
As for my choices for a live action cast:
Lion-O: Tom Welling
Jaga: Bruce Willis
Panthro: Michael Clarke Duncan
Tygra: Hugh Jackman
Cheetara: Ali Larter or Kate Beckinsale
Wily Kit and Wily Kat: Mary Kate and Ashley Olson

that was an awsome trailor..if that was real this movie would make millions of dollars…i agree with everyone when they say dont do CG keep it real. the true fans would love it so much more
July 8th, 2009 at 2:20 pm
oh my god, that was awesome! hopefully if the cgi version does well enough the may consider doing a live action and if it was anything like that ‘dummy’ trailer it would be unreal!
July 15th, 2009 at 12:21 am
The only problem i have with that trailer (if it were real) is BRAD PITT AS LION-O? JESUS CHRIST THATS THE WORST THING EVER!!!! PLEASE GOD NO!!!
September 15th, 2009 at 8:34 pm
this is some bs y would you folks take the only black character (panthro) and give it to a mix or white guy when we (NEGROS) supported the show too. its just another case were we got thrown up under the bus again and its a shame that no one had enough testicular fortitude to step up and say something just look at his name PAN-THRO sounds kinda like panther and afro don’t it and i know i want get a responds but i just wanted to say i thought the writers had my people in mind when he made the character

THUNDERCATS MOVIE WILL MAKE MORE MONEY THAN TITANIC I BET U . PEOPLE DONT REALIZE HOW ICONIC THUNDERCATS IS AND PEOPLE ARE UNDERESTIMATING THE PUBLICS EAGERNESS TO FINALLY MAKE THIS MOVIE REALITY. AS A KID I GREW UP ON THUNDERCATS AND WE BEEN WAITING FOR THIS MOVIE TO COME OUT!
October 18th, 2009 at 7:21 am
Vin Diesel and Hugh Jackman they,re so perfect for theyre characters but the characters theyre so wrong is LIon o and CHeetara Liono is for Mel Gibson and cheetara is for Ali Larter or angelina Julie one at the two actreses thankx
October 24th, 2009 at 5:37 pm
I thought this was the real thing. Great work guys. I think someone else should play Lion-O like Orlando Bloom. Cheetara, who else but Halle Berry, and Hugh Jackman and Vin Diesel will be perfect.
November 4th, 2009 at 8:43 pm
And I disagree with the casting choices. I work in the Entertainment Industry, and like typical Hollywood, they are trying to put too many names for draw purposes.
January 4th, 2010 at 6:59 am
Sorry, CG.I will not work with the fantasy storyline of the Thundercats. Just look at Beowulf, Speed Racer, and G.I Joe. those movies were crappy. They got carried away like Michael Bay did with both Transformers. Nice C.G.I but no storyline. I am a true Thundercat fan and if anyone wants to make a good movie that will be cherished by their legions of fans and passed down to their kids as a classic, then someone better call Peter Jackson, J.J Abrams, or James Cameron and get their input. And as far as casting, Michael Clark Duncan is the only person I would cast for Panthro.
January 20th, 2010 at 10:20 pm
I totally think that Hugh Jackman would be perfect for Tygra, he fits the character. and if this movie ever comes out it better be made totally to the cartoon and in depth about the story, for the fans
January 25th, 2010 at 1:59 pm
Lion-O:Hugh Jackman
Cheetara:Kate Beckinsale
Tygra:Scoot Speedman
Panthro:Michasha Armstrong
WillyKit:Abigail Breslin
WillyKat: Max Records
