Could Tyrese Gibson Be A ThunderCat?
Published on August 3, 2008 by admin · 33 CommentsRumour has it that Tyrese Gibson, American R&B singer, is going to be involved in the new ThunderCats movie!
Tyrese told ComingSoon.net that he has been very involved in the attempt to bring the classic ’80s cartoon series to the big screen and seemed to hint that a deal is very nearly complete. They asked him what character he would be playing, he just smiled and said that there are a number of options on the table. Last year, the project was announced by Warner Bros as a CGI-animated feature that would be directed by video game veteran Jerry O’Flaherty.

Tyrese is an accomplished actor he can play anything and do it well. You Sebastian wish that you could be in Tyrese’s position, I think they call that “being a hater.”Learn how to spell and type before you call someone ghetto (PLS I bed you all!)

Well cares about who plays what, lets get this show on the road I miss the Thundercats terrible and I want to see it make a comeback.

I think that Dwain Johnson (The Rock) would make a great Panthro and as he already ha the physique and looks much more like him than others mentioned. Do you agree?
I agree, I think Tyrese is a good candidate to play the role of Panthro. Even though Vin wouldn’t be a bad one either. The Rock naaah. He could probably be Lyonel. I don’t know that’s just my opinion.
At the end of the day, it doesn’t matter about how they look, it’s there voices that count!
I agree with Johnathan,i think Vin Diesal has the characteristics of Panthro especially the voice,They should consider
Ving Rhames as Panthro i think would be good. Panthro is clearly a bald blackman that sounds like Morgan Freeman. Im curious to see who plays these roles though
Actually the voice of Panthro was the guy who played the father of Bill Cosby on the Cosby Show. Although I think Tyrese is a great actor, he may be too tall.
I think, as a cgi version, Panthro should be given to either Ving Rhames OR Vin Diesel. Heck, even Michael Clarke Duncan could pull it off. Panthro had a deep dark voice, so since it’s the vocals they’re after, those three would be a good start. I can see The Rock as the voice for Lion-O. Simply because I remember his yell from wrestling, (“do you smell what the Rock…”) compared to Lion-O’s call are very similar. Tigra and Cheetara are kinda gimmes. Angelina would do a sexy Cheetara. She definitely would add sex appeal to it. The original, whoever she was, had a nice bedroom type voice. Not too high pitch and super feminine, but feminine enough. I’m gonna have to get back to you about the mutants, Snarf, Jaga, and Mumm-Ra…;-)
Terry Crews from everybody hates Chris would make the perfect Panthro character. He’s a good actor and he has the build.
However, I have Dwayne the Rock Johnson as Lion O.

Me again. Here’s my current cast.
Lion O – Dwane the Rock Johnson. The Roc is built, but I would have him put on a little bit more muscle just to meet up to the physical appearance of the cartoon character. Just a little, not to much. As Hawkenbyrd said, he does have the voice of Lion O as well. In my opinion, I can’t see anyone else for this part.
Cheetara – I agree totally with Hawkenbyrd. Give this part to Angelina Jolie. She has the look and the voice and she’s a great actress. Look what she has done as Lara Croff-Tomb Raider.
Panthro – Terry Crews from Everybody hates Chris. He has the build and the voice. Very good actor and has great muscle tone. Look him up.
Tigra – So far I could only think of Hugh Jackman for this part. Open to any other thoughts on this one.
Mumbra Mummy – Kieth David. Look him up. This guy is perfect for the part. He’s played in the movie Crash as the Police Captain, and Kirby in the movie Dead Presidents with Larenz Tate. He also did the voice over for Goliath in the cartoon series Gargoyles.
Mumbra Transformed. Michael Clark Duncan. He definitely has the physical attributes and the voice for this part. I would even have him buff up a little bit more for the part. Last pic I saw of him, it looked like he dropped a few pounds.

Dwayne Johnson as Lion O… give me a break?!?!? Could you see him with red hair and doing back flips to avoid enemies?!?!?… i’d wet myself if I saw that… You need someone who’s athletic to play Lion O, like Chris Evans from Fantastic Four. As for Panthro… Vin Diesel all the way, Tygra would be an interesting one… I’d like to see Jason Statham from Transporter do that and last but not least Jessica Simpson at Cheetara… hot! Why CG WHY?!?!?!?!?
What about the guy who played spawn to play panthro you seen him in the dark knight
I’m glad to hear the movie will be animated. I just hope even though it’s a CGI film, that they will keep the same character design.

What about the bald black guy from the Underworld movies. He has a deep voice, he is bald, has the build. Plus he has a degree in genitics, so he fits all the bills for the part.

you gotta remember though, in the original show all the adult male thundercats were around the same height and build. you can’t have a 6 foot 4 250 panthro and a 5 foot 8 180 pound lion-o. whoever they get if it’s live action all have to be around the same size.
THE THUNDERCATS WAS AN EXCELLANT CHOICE TO REDO, ALL THE CHOICES FOR THE CHARACTERS ARE GOING TO BE GOOD, BUT ANY GOOD FEMALE ACTION STAR SHOULD BE THE WONDERFUL ALI LARTER OR JESSICA BIEL. aS FOR AS LION O BRAD PITT IS GOOD, AND MABYE jOHN CENA (WWE) AS PANTHRO, HE IS A PANTHER NOT NECESARILY A BLACK MAN, JUST A BIG MEAN FIGHTING MACHINE, CENA WOULD BE AWSOME. wHAT ABOUT CHRISTOPHER WALKEN AS MUMBRA HES OLD SCHOOL BUT DAMN GOOD ACTOR
I thought Panthro was Vin Diesel.
Wesley Snipes should play the part of Panthro… As we all know,Panthro is a martial artist so for that reason I think it should be Wesley playing the part.He’s also a better actor than everyone else who’s been mentioned to play the part
For the animated movie Thundercats here’s who I think would make good choices for the voices:

Lynx-O: Samuel L. Jackson
Bengali: Don Cheadle
Pumrya: Kerry Washington.
This is Just my opinion on who should voice the characters for the thundercats animated movie
i will be very disappointed to see this as a CGI film after some other old cartoons makin the jump to live action. The fake trailer i just watched is a pretty good start but definitely not Brad Pitt as Lion-O. The Rock would be awesome. I would also be very disappointed to see Tyrese in it. I dont think he has the acting ability to pull off such a popular pre-existing character. Christopher Walken probably would be an awesome Mummra.
I don’t want it to be live action . . . I LOVE Animation! As for voices for Lion-O . . I throw in Robbie Benson. Panthera – definitely Ving Rhames. Cheetahra . . I like Kyra Sedgwick or even her daughter. Tigra . . . Terrance Howard – Not too deep, but not too high pitched. Mum-Ra – Christopher Walken would rock! ! Then put Sam Elliott as Jaga . . . !
I believe that Liam Neeson would make a good Jaga! And Dewayne Johnson as Tygra not Lion-O and Jessica Biel as Cheetara!

Ye thundercat movie better off being a CGI movie,similar to Avatar,where actors motion is captured and then converted into CGI graphics,live action movie wouldnt look good as CGI,also 3D effect to top it off .
