Charlie Wen Named As ThunderCats Movie Concept Artist

Charlie Wen concept artist for ThunderCats Charlie Wen has recently been named as Concept Artist for the upcoming ThunderCats movie. Wen is a very talented artist who has worked on several video games and movies. Amongst Wen’s recent achievements is his work as Visual Development Director for the popular series God of War and upcoming God of War 2. Up until recently Wen worked at Imagi Studios as a character designer for Gatchaman, a movie remake of G-Force.

This is what Wen had to say about his departure from the Gatchaman project and his involvement in the upcoming ThunderCats movie:

“The vision’s changed since I first joined and seems to be going towards a younger Power Rangers audience - I wanted to see a Gatchaman that I would love to see and didn’t want to see it go this direction, so I departed from Imagi and took an Art Directing/Character Designing gig on ThunderCats.

ThunderCats is another old cartoon that’s making it’s way to film…hoooooooo! Hehe - sorry, couldn’t help myself. The show also made an impression on me as a kid, maybe not quite the way Gatchaman did, but none the less, it took a good chunk of my after school hours. Currently, this is keeping me busy, along with some other projects on the side, which I can’t mention yet.”

I can’t wait to see Wen’s work on the new ThunderCats movie, it’s all very hush hush at the moment but I bet it will be worth the wait! Watch this space…

Wow!! Thundercats!! I loved that cartoon. I think saying “Mumm-Ra”! LOL! I love that all of these old school cartoons are being brought back to life. Thanks for the info.

Wow! Cool! Love the GoW games, can`t wait for the third and I can`t wait to see any visuals on this one. Kinda impressed by myself that I knew about Charlie before I read this^^

I think the Jamaican Athletic team would be a great source for the characters of the Thunder Cats next movie! I mean it would be too cool to see the fastest men and women in the world do the job. They already look the part in the Jamaican yellow green and black gear on the track in Beijing. I bet it would be a great money maker too since all the athletes are already known for their different personalities and issues just like the Cats! I mean put the theme song right before the replay of one of the races and see how fantastic it is!
