Getting to know Jerry O’Flaherty…

Jerry O’Flaherty, full name Jeremiah O’Flaherty, was born in Irving, a suburb of Dallas, Texas. He is the fourth of ten children. His father emigrated to the United States from Listowel, County Kerry, Ireland. Therefore, O’Flaherty holds dual American/Irish citizenship. He now lives in Santa Monica, California. In his spare time O’Flaherty loves to paint.
His artistic talents have led to him being best known as Art Director on Gears of War from Epic Games. He started his career in the game industry at sixteen years old. By the age of twenty-four he partly owned video game developer KoP Media and sold it to Seventh Level two years later. He was one of the original founders and owners of game company Ion Storm. In 2003, O’Flaherty was given the role of Studio Art Director of Epic Games, dealing with the direction of Gears of War and Unreal Tournament 3. He worked on the Command and Conquer series whilst employed by the innovative but now defunct Westwood Studios in Las Vegas, later absorbed into EA Los Angeles.
As well directing video games, O’Flaherty studied film at the University of North Texas near Dallas so he is more than well equipped to direct Thundercats The Movie. I also think that if the high standard of Gears of War is anything to go by O’Flaherty will do us proud with this movie!

Are you seriously going to kill off the thunder kittens? The whole reason I watched thundercats was because of the awesomeness of wilykit and wilycat! but if you do include them in the movie I have two questions for you.
1. who are their parents?
2. why dont they reach adult age when Lion-o ages in the pods…. they look the same?
please please dont kill off the only reason I would watch the movie! or if you do.. you should make a spinoff of the thunderkittens!

Also make sure you add Bengali, Pumyra and Lynx-O. They are all Thundercats too remember!

Here is the first interview Jerry O’Flaherty has done since his announcement in variety magazine, that he was moving from art director of Gears of War to Director of Thundercats the movie.(based on the 70s cartoon)
This is a new full 30 minute interview with the guy responsible for the look of last years show stopper. He flashes back tells us about his roots, his progress to art director, his work on gears and then his progression to Warner Bros. to work on Thundercats the full featured CG movie.

Well, my site picked up on the interview! Honestly, I’m a gamer and I’ve seen his work… needless to say, I’m looking forward to seeing what he does with the 20 yr old styles of the cartoon! His work has progressed to the point that it’s flattering that WB has tapped this amazing artist! Now, if only they’ll listen to us fans on the VA’s!!!!
