Thundercats The Movie Out 2010!
Written by clare on July 24, 2007 – 5:20 pm -Thundercats is on its way to the big screen……at last! Warner Brothers are turning the 80’s animated series and toy line into a movie from a script written by Paul Sopocy, first-time screenwriter.
Spring Creek Pictures are set to produce the movie. Dan Lin, Senior Vice President of Production at Warner Brothers, will produce along with Paula Weinstein, Dick Robertson and Lew Korman.
Despite initial news stories, the movie is going to be a CGI-animated feature and not a live action movie. The movie is set to be released in 2010. I have been waiting years for this movie, I really do hope that it is worth the wait!

You have got to be kidding me? Are they actually going to be using the original actors/actresses to do the voices? Seing as Rob McFadden & Earl Hammond are no longer with us?
I wonder what Larry Kenney would say to this?
August 4th, 2007 at 5:25 pm
There’s been no news yet on who will be doing the voices for the new movie, however, I know that Larry would love to portray Lion-O again.
I know that Rob McFadden and Earl Hammond are no longer with us, nobody else will ever compare to these legends.

Proof??? Need PROOF!!!
August 16th, 2007 at 7:48 pm
Hello thunderlover!
Proof of what exactly?
August 22nd, 2007 at 2:41 am
You are making a big mistake by not making Thunder Cats an actually movie
September 5th, 2007 at 4:02 am
the best certoons ever made even my car has the logo painted on the hood so imagin
September 5th, 2007 at 5:12 pm
That’s brill! Can you post a picture of it up here?!
September 18th, 2007 at 5:53 pm
I had a 30 minute interview with Larry Kenney back in 2005. He is truly an awesome guy, (Got a signed picture and signed comic books off him :P) I’ve also spoke to Peter Newman, and Lynne Lipton.
Claire, you seem pretty convinced there is a movie coming to the big screen, but where and whn did you hear this information?? Do you have evidence of this? I’m sure a lot of people would like to know…
September 18th, 2007 at 6:21 pm
I’m very impressed that you’ve interviewed Larry Kenney and spoken with the others too. I’ve had conversations with Larry but only via e-mail. He seems like such a nice guy.
I first read about the movie on the Variety website…
Variety.com - Warner purrs for Thundercats
I have read about it elsewhere too, e.g. the Internet Movie Database…
Thundercats (2010)
It doesn’t give much away there I have to admit but it’s a reliable source and the fact that it’s listed there as an upcoming movie gives me confidence that this movie is on the horizon.
Also, when I conversed with Larry he seemed to be confident that Thundercats The Movie was hitting the big screen in 2010 too.
October 3rd, 2007 at 1:02 am
Will the movie be cartoons, or with real people like transformers?
October 3rd, 2007 at 5:12 pm
It is going to be a CGI-animated movie like Shrek and Toy Story, not live-action like Transformers.
December 3rd, 2007 at 8:06 pm
An actual movie would be way too awesome. Transformer was a real kick a**. Thundercats could be way better
January 3rd, 2008 at 10:05 pm
This can be a great movie, I hope it is. I think that CG is a good idea for this movie because of all the stunts and amazing jumps, effects, creatures, vehicles, etc. If it was live action it would still use a lot of CGI in almost every scene, so making it completely CG sounds logical. It’s a lot of less work (and less risk) than it is to match virtual stuff to real life actors
March 1st, 2008 at 3:18 pm
I don’t know the actors name, but i think the guy who played a werewolf named Raze would be perfect for the voice of Panthro, especially if they are going for a darker feel for the movie. He has a natural growling rumble in his speaking voice
March 3rd, 2008 at 6:24 am
I think comparing it to Shrek or Toy Story is ridiculous. Better say, it’ll be a CG movie like Beowulf. I’m sure it won’t be cartoonish but realistic. Mumm-ra can be so dirty, creepy and evil. We saw how horrible Grendel was in Beowulf, I’m sure Mumm-ra will kick ass.
May 2nd, 2008 at 2:43 pm
I’m so excited that they will be coming out with the movie i heard about it online as well. There is more proof that it’s coming out because they have Jerry O’Flaherty-from Gears of War-to direct it. Also he spoke about the movie quite briefly when interviewed for GoW mainly because it was too early in the project to say much.
May 2nd, 2008 at 8:20 pm
Oh my GOD!!! I’ve waited 15 years(my whole life) for a Thundercats movie. When it comes out in the theaters, I guarantee I’m gonna be the first one to see it in my neighborhood.

September 25th, 2008 at 4:59 pm
When it comes out. Ima gonna call dat day THUNDERDAY!
October 1st, 2008 at 4:34 pm
I LOVE Thundercats, growing up watching GI Joe, Transformers, M.A.S.K, Voltrone, and Thundercats, I couldn’t wait to see Transformers I was pleased with the way it turned out. I would like them to make a Thundercat movie on the big screen. I think the 80’s generation has a lot to offer from our comics and cartoons. I can’t wait for Transformers 2. Keep-um coming.
October 8th, 2008 at 11:14 pm

I am so disgusted that the producer of this great “kids” classic has turned this movie into a rated “R” adult movie.
My young children have recently become great fans of Thundercats, after their Dad introduced the library’s copy of the cartoon to them. I was so excited to learn there would soon be a new movie. I can’t tell you how far you miss the mark on this one. It’s deplorable. I wish someone could tell me why the target audience shifted so much. The children have totally been robbed. The Transformers remake managed to tow the line and not totally cut off young audiences. I am so disappointed.
November 10th, 2008 at 3:26 pm
I am Janice Wolf, the daughter of Thundercats creator Ted Wolf. I am just as excited as everyone about a new Thundercats movie. My father is no longer alive, but I know he is looking down from somewhere with a big grin on his face!

I dont know if the producers keep an eye on this website, but if they are, DO NOT MAKE THE THUNDERCATS MOVIE A CGI! (shoot it with real characters and add the CGI - like star wars etc = big revenue generated!
November 14th, 2008 at 8:24 am
Dear JANICE WOLF, It is great to see you writing on this forum, you should be very proud of your father, it was a unique creation, Im sure your dad would also be pleased to know that my own kids, aged 6/4/&1 all love watching my old recordings of Thundercats. Do you think it is a good idea to make the Movie with computers rather than real people?
November 14th, 2008 at 8:26 am
cant we get the Thundercats Box DVD set for Christmas, whoever owns the rights to this is making a big mistake by not releasing it.
November 15th, 2008 at 1:49 am
Whichever way Warner Brothers chooses to do it is fine with me, as long as it’s a first rate script and a quality product. I don’t have any creative say, unfortunately, so I am riding this roller coaster with all of you. I am unbelievably proud of my father. He spent his whole childhood in foster homes and orphanages. He was a purple heart veteran, went to college on the GI bill and never had anything handed to him. He certainly was my inspiration and role model.
November 19th, 2008 at 10:37 am
What’s the use of having a cgi. The purpose of seeing Thundercats on the big screen is because everyone wants to see real actors acting out the characters ie X-men and fantastc four. Forget CGI…i’m not going to see it, what a waste of time.
It’s on a par with transformers and may smash box office records…what a waste CGI???.
December 8th, 2008 at 8:21 pm
What a waste..CGI!?? I’m not watching darnit!
December 16th, 2008 at 3:28 pm
I’m actually really bumbed about this being CGI. I’ve been waiting for this movie for more than 20 years and CGI is the best these jokers can do? I’m so bummed that I’m not sure that I’ll even bother watching it.
I’m kinda hoping this tanks and they’ll give up the rights to a company who will do this flick right.
December 30th, 2008 at 11:05 pm
i can’t believe they are not doing live action…what’s the point of using a big studio if it’s going to be another cartoon
January 1st, 2009 at 6:37 am
Live action woulkd have been good but in reality - hugely expensive and in some cases extremely dangerous - even for professional stuntpeople.
Point 1 : Wileykat and Wileykit - I really doubt you could find two stuntpeople small enough to pose as a couple of Thundercubs - and NO actors guild would let anyone expose child actors to such dangerous stunts as swinging through the air and leaping from tree to tree.
The only vaible option is CGI all Stuntwork.
2. The Snarf - you can’t have the movie without him and let’s face it - it’s CGI or nothing
3. Cat’s Lair and Mumm Ra’s Pyramind and other outdoor sets - Hugely expensive to build and even if they did, they would just build the base and entrance and CGI the rest anyway.
And you can forget about using a real pyramid - the Egyptian Government has a blanket ban on filming around its ancient monuments - especially ones with explosions.
So you can see with the amount of CGI needed for even a live action film, it would make sense from a studio’s point of view that they may as well cut to the chase and go CGI all the way .
With films like Final Fantasy - The Spirits Within and TMNT - a CGI film can be done well.
Lets hope that the makers of this movie recognise the HUGE fanbase that Thundercats has and do their utmost to make the film a success.
January 11th, 2009 at 12:17 pm
John I do see your pint but with films like Sin City showing us how a film can be very heavy on CGI but still use real actors I see no reason that the thunder cats film couldn’t be like that.
January 21st, 2009 at 10:35 pm
thundercat is my favorite and i been waiting all my life for this movie. I was siting in my room thinking of the thundercats than got online there was the movie. but why so long away this should come out sooner that people is waiting to see this movie.
ALWAYS A THUNDERCAT FAN DON’T STAY GONE TO LONG
January 26th, 2009 at 5:41 pm
I got the Thundercat symbol as a tatoo on my right shoulder. I was born a Leo. My name mean King and it starts with an L.
“I am Liono Lord of the Thundercats”
January 27th, 2009 at 4:15 pm
How can this be anything but good news? ‘If it’s CGI.. I won’t watch it.’ What is that all about? It was a goddamn cartoon and we were all hooked, weren’t we? So many people here have made excellent examples of how good CGI movies can be, besides which look at who is already on board for the project- pretty heavy on the game design front, so it seems that if they are taking it down the CGI route at least they have the most suitable people in place to realise the project. I for one cannot wait! Now we start the wait for ‘Visionaries: the movie’ ‘Centurions: the movie’ and ”M.A.S.K: the movie’ ooh ooh ooh and how about ‘Bravestarr: the movie’ no wait- that would be rubbish.
January 31st, 2009 at 12:33 am
NOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!! DONT MAKE IT INTO CGI IS GONNA SUK!! WE THE ADULTS ARE THE ONES WHOS TELLING YOU GUYS WE WANT THE THUNDERCATS NOT THE KIDS I MEAN COME ON SPIDER MAN WAS A CARTOON AND IT WAS GREAT!!! AS AN ACTUAL FILM I BELIEVE IT WOULD MAKE SOOOOO!! MUCH MORE MONEY AS A REGULAR FILM PLLZZZZ LISTEN TO OUR PLEADS DONT MAKE IT INTO A CGI IS US THE 80′S KIDS WHOS ASKING FOR IT PLLZZZZZZZZZZ
February 2nd, 2009 at 11:45 pm
i loved this show when i was a kid. I watched some on the internet too. I cant wait to see this
February 3rd, 2009 at 4:27 pm
PLEASE do not make this CGI! GI Joe is live action, why not Thundercats?
If this thing is done in CGI I predict that it’s going to go straight to DVD.
Please, please, please, please, please, please, please do NOT do it in CGI!
February 3rd, 2009 at 11:05 pm
I agree. I don’t care how good of a movie it is. If it’s cgi it won’t compare to what a live action movie would do. Go look up Thundercats live action movie trailer on YouTube. That is a movie I would see. If I wanted to watch animated Thundercats I would watch the cartoons.
February 9th, 2009 at 2:19 am
I’m insanely excited for this movie! I’m pretty young, but I remember watching thundercats when I was younger and loving it.
And I think the main reason it’s going for a more adult vibe is that the people who originally liked thundercats are all adults now. They all grew up. Young kids now probably don’t even know about Thndercats. I’m a junior in highschool and I make references and it’s about half and half for who gets it and who doesn’t. The kids younger than me definitely wouldn’t know about it so it might be a waste to focus it towards younger kids.
Also, I don’t think CGI could be done horribly. I mean, 300 was an amazing film and was over 50% CGI if i remember correctly. IT had alot of real actors, but also a fair amount of fake stuff, so it could be done really well.
February 9th, 2009 at 5:19 pm
I am a huge lover of the original thindercats cartoons and in my opinion, the new movie will be either a massive hit or a floppy wipeout nothing in between!
I personally think its gonna be a big disappointment and will spoil the fond memories i have of watching it as a child. Hope im proven wrong!
February 10th, 2009 at 4:49 am
I tink this movie should definitely be live, a CGI rendition wont have the same appeal. There are many actors I can think of to fulfil the roles needed. So please (to the powers that be) consider what the fans are saying and make it live..thx.
February 25th, 2009 at 7:01 pm
I agree it HAS TO BE LIVE! Look at Transformers and TMNT. The one that was live, did a LOT better! Why not take a look at that example. CGI animated stuff is made to be funny most of the time thanks to Disney. The CGI movies that are made to be serious usually flop. Final Fantasy was soooo bad it closed Square Pictures. Just look at what one person has to say about CGI.

February 26th, 2009 at 12:54 am
Thundercats HO! The movie should be good. CGI is fine too. There are too many actors that would spoil the movie if it were made live. People are not cartoons. None of the popular actors would take the role, they would be patheticm, unless they want to ridicule themselves. It would only work as a live action movie if all the actors in it were new, and followed on their roles. Could anyone imagine Samuel Jackson as Panthro, or even Monkian, or Danny Davito as Slithe?, tho he looks alitle like him. I would think a live action movie would bring in weird people to see it, like transvestites etc. CGI is fine.
March 3rd, 2009 at 7:46 am
If that video on YouTube where Brad Pitt plays Lion-O is any indication of what a live action movie might look like, then I am glad they are going with CGI. It looks so cheesy. The first final fantasy might have flopped, but that was more because of bad writing, not the visuals. Besides, live action movies take too much liberty with the look of the original characters. I mean just look at what they did to Magneto’s helmet in the X-Men. Could they have made it look any dumber? And he looks old and frail instead of powerful like in the comic books. Besides, with CGI you can get the real voice of Lion-O which is reason enough to go CGI in my opinion.
March 6th, 2009 at 7:20 am
Final Fantasy Advent Children did more than just a great job to prove that an action CGI film can work!
March 9th, 2009 at 4:56 pm
what about the guy from triple X for the voice of panthro?….i’ll admit, i was a bit disappointed when i read it was going to be a cartoon, i thought mayb something like the haulk, a little of both…then i got over it. it wasnt live action when i saw the cartoon back in the 80’s; either way, i am definitely going to see the film, cartoon or not…where can we find DVD’s of the cartoon? is there a box set? anyone?
March 13th, 2009 at 7:55 am
Wow..CGI…I dont really want to see my favorite child hood cartoon looking like another Beowolf. I was really looking forward to live actors. what a let down.
March 14th, 2009 at 4:39 am
OK, about the live action vs. CG debate. Let me throw this into the mix. Having a live action Thundercats would be like having a live action Simpsons. It just wouldn’t work. When people think of Bart they think of a yellow kid with spiky hair and that distinct voice. No kid in Hollywood looks or sounds like Bart Simpson. If you paint a kid yellow, he doesn’t look like Bart Simpson he just looks like a kid painted yellow. If you take away the voice, you take away part of the character. The cartoon Lion-O is THE ONLY Lion-O. Anyone else is an impostor. I’m just saying this because I think everyone should be totally stoked about this movie. I think it’s going to rock.
March 23rd, 2009 at 12:28 am
Oh man! I think live action would be better. With the makeup they can do these days it would be fine. I picture Lion-o as a lot like hugh jackman as wolverine. It can be done. Oh well.
March 30th, 2009 at 3:33 am
God bless Panthro!
April 13th, 2009 at 3:48 pm
CGI!!…..HOW GAY! Way to ruin a movie!!!
April 29th, 2009 at 3:30 pm
Hey guys what are we talking no cartoon movie gone main stream did well the first time around …. well besides transformers… batman, superman where all cartoons than a cartoon movie then several variations of live movie. (And because i have sight beyond sight) .. lol…Let these guys make there mistake with CGl and if we support it enough someone else will make it better. Im just excited to see something.
June 1st, 2009 at 3:30 am
To Janice, your father gave us a great story with terrific charactors that always had a message about trust and friendship as well as many other endearing qualities. In spite of the fact it was a cartoon, there were always teachings on right and wrong in the stories. Us fans will alwaya be greatful for your father’s genious.
On the point of CGI vs Live. A movie really needs to be done by true movie pros. A combination of both will be needed like in movies like the X-Men, Underworld, Van Helsing and Ultraviolet. No live actor would be able to move like the charactors can in the cartoon without CG help. Not to mention they are all a type of big cat and just makeup on actors like the fancast won’t do the trick for realism.
Live action really should be the best format, but only with combining with today’s technology to give it the needed quility. Hopefully before they decide to make the movie, they will realize it needs the best prodution to pull it off for the fans. Regardless of the expense, if it’s done right, people will absolutely watch it. With all the drama, and mindless slasher movies out there, people want something special and positive. We’ve seen way to many badly done CGI and live action remakes from past cartoons. Not to mention, terrbile story lines.
So movie makers, honor Ted Wolf and his family by doing the first Thundercats movie the right way. If people can do it with Lord of the Rings, Spiderman, and so many others, it sure can be done here. Remember they actually did a pretty good job with Scooby Doo in live action as well.
Other great cartoons the would be good live action films would be Gargoyles, and Thundarr the Barbarian to name a couple.

June 3rd, 2009 at 9:24 am
I been waiting for this movie to come out, I remember when I was a kid I use to c this cartoon n I love it, thesad thing is that they discontinued like 15 years ago.
June 4th, 2009 at 5:14 am
CGI will be absolutely terrible!!!! I understand how expensive it will be to do a live action version but at least do it the same way “300″ and “Sin City” was made. At least then it would still have real people in it, better than nothing. To those that say its a shame for it not to be directed at young kids, who cares!!!?? The young kids that used to watch Thundercats are now us! Adults! All the real fans are grown up and ready for something GREAT to be made! PLEASE NOT CGI THOUGH!!!
June 10th, 2009 at 4:59 pm
i agree, at first i was NOOOOOOOOOOOO !!!! CGI ??!! then i was like, hey i am just happy to see what they can do. i seen some damn good CGI . and with the THUNDERCATS , i think they will push it . making the look and feel alot more visceral. i hope to get my eyeballs melted.
June 11th, 2009 at 2:09 am
Look I was excited when hearing about the new movie but come on !!!!!! LIVE ACTION is the bar for this film anything less is a cop out!!! By the way I did grow up watching this cartoon and Transformers, so can u really say CGI is better 4 this film than what the next level effects can do
we can and will bring to the new live version being discussed thanks 2 that great fanmade verion of the trailor
June 18th, 2009 at 3:44 pm
Live action would be soo much better…this kid has got what it takes…..
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fb50GMmY5nk
June 29th, 2009 at 5:04 pm
I think a combo of live action and cgi would have been great, but at the same time, i’m looking at the names that have been brought in to work on this movie and honestly they do such a wonderful job of making their “cartoon”carachters look real that i think its going to work out fine. my husband and i are looking forward to this movie, no matter what format they use i will be there opening day to see it. My kids have been watching it as well, we have the first season on dvd and it’s their favorite, along with Fraggle rock, they love watching that too!
June 30th, 2009 at 9:47 pm
OMG If anyone makes this movie it will suck like Transformers. If you look at the cartoons they were nothing like the movies and that is what these are based on. In my opinion it would be a waste of time and money to screw another 80,s cartoon and turn it into a movie
July 3rd, 2009 at 6:49 pm
Really James………
Don’t listen to him! I can’t wait. I have all the cartoons on DVD and watch them over and over. I play touch football……..2 guesses what or name is! Thundercats ohhhhhhhhhhh!!!
tee hee hee = Make the movie!!!
July 6th, 2009 at 12:31 am
Wll I believe a well done CGI movie is the best they can do as i couldn’t imagine a real actor/actress doing any of the parts justice. whether its like final fantasy or beowulf, i think getting the story right will be the crucial thing, and of course as much athenticity to the voices and original cartoon sets as possible.
July 9th, 2009 at 1:27 am
I agreaa with the majority. Dont make this cgi. I just saw the “fake” trailer on youtube and it looked awsome. with all the other live action films out there. this can be done. Even if it uses some cgi props and stuff. bring in real actors.
July 17th, 2009 at 11:06 am
This would be amazing, I don’t care what anyone says. At the end of the day nothing could kill off the classic 80’s cartoons, and this was one of the best. I do think it would be more interesting to see this in live action, anything is possible with the special effects that can be produced these days. I’m really looking forward to this and hopefully many more 80’s cartoons making back to the big screen!
July 20th, 2009 at 12:54 am
I am all for this as long as Lynne Lipton has no part of it!!! She was horrible!
July 25th, 2009 at 12:06 pm
this puts a damper on my spirits. I was really hoping that it would be an action film. So wanted to see someone like cameron diaz as chitara.
July 25th, 2009 at 7:23 pm
I AM SO GLAD TO SEE THIS MOVIE BEING MADE.AS A PERSON THAT RUNS A YOUTH PROGRAM BASED ON THIS CARTOON I AM SO EXITED AND SO ARE THE MANY KIDS INVOLVED IN MY OROGRAM.WE ARE ALL VERY ANXIOUS TO SEE IT. I DO THINK THAT LIVE ACTION WOULD BE BEST.WE PLAY ACT THE CHARACTERS IN A GAME WE CALL KNOCKOUT AND WE ALL THINK IT CAN BE DONE RIGHT AND IN ATASTEFUL MANNER FOR THE MANY THUNDERCAT FANS.WE CANT WAIT TO SEE IT!
July 26th, 2009 at 4:53 pm
hey there craig, i think a thundercats movie would be brill if released.. could see charliz therone as cheetara, vin diesel as panthero, gerard butler as tygra, and ryan reynolds as lion o
July 26th, 2009 at 7:09 pm
I have been waiting for a Thundercats movie, and was hoping just as many others that it would be done in Live Action. And yes of course it would be mixed with CGI. However I do not want to see computer animated characters for two hours. If you want to make it look “realistic” then use real actors!!!
We have seen that Live-Action mixed with CGI has done very well, and If I pay for an action film that not’s geared entirely to kids than I want humans to potray the characters. Hell Alvin & the Chimpmunks was real & CGI….PLease real actors!
Oh and Pirates of Dark Water Live-Action would be very very cool!!!!
July 28th, 2009 at 12:14 am

I am beyond utterly disappointed that this movie is not going to be live action.
I have waited for YEARS for this movie, I have introduced my children to the cartoon so that when the LIVE ACTION movie was made they would understand just how awesome Thundercats truly was/is…. and THIS is what they do???!
They give us a all CGI movie?! If they could do “Cats” the musical by Andrew Loyd Weber (and that was HOW LONG AGO?) with the actors dressed in their make-up and costumes looking the way they did, they could have made a live action Thunderats movie… one of THE BEST… if not THE BEST movie in a long, long, long time.
What are these people thinking???!!! WHO comes up with these final decisions? Even for a purely MONEY aspect…. a live action Thundercats movie (done RIGHT… PG-13) would have been AMAZING!!! They already have the story with the cartoon and just have to make sure NOT to do what they did with that failure of a live action action movie starring Dolph Lungren (It pains me to call that movie “He-Man” OR “Masters of the Universe”).
Unbelievable…. I waited all this time… for THIS???
August 6th, 2009 at 1:41 pm
Me personally would like live action and cgi I think with all the new tech these days it would look and give it a fantastic feel as well as look and make me feel like a kid again watchin for the 1st time all over again bringing back happier childhood memorys I also feel they are due on makin live action voltron c’mon now rock it out people like the avatar the last airbender and GOW
August 6th, 2009 at 4:21 pm
thundercats in 2010 will be good maybe hugh jackman will be it maybe or not.
August 10th, 2009 at 7:10 pm
when will the thundercats movie actuly be showing in theatres? as i work in a movie theater i would be very excited about seeing this movie but have seen no promotional stuff in the theater or on the website. when is the realise date supposed to be?
August 11th, 2009 at 9:30 am
I’ve been scanning the Internet from time to time trying to fond concrete info on the upcoming movie, but I am now disappointed that there seem to be multiple reports stating it will be a pure CG movie.
I know producers are just scared that the cast could look mega-camp dressed up as Thundercats, but we’ve seen pretty OTT outfits executed well in recent movies (Watchmen, 300, X-Men) and they don’t distract from the film at all. Personally, I think they help give the film definition and stop it slipping into slick / cool but mediocre territory.
I say spend less time messing about with CGI and instead put time into perfect casting and outfits to give fans (and there are a lot of them) the film they deserve.

CGI? com’n they can do better than that. I would have taken inspiration from movies such as 300 and LOTR to do the amazing live action film I know it can be
August 11th, 2009 at 8:50 pm
even Avatar , a much younger franchise without the deep loyalty base is not going that route
August 11th, 2009 at 9:38 pm
CGI means they are afriaid to put in the full effort. No ’serious’ CGI has made it to even close $100 million gross. So the producers want to put out a cheap film with the calculated risk that the diehards will make it worth their while.
My fantasy solution would be like in the movie Please be Kind ,Rewind letting the fans finance half the movie via IPO and have share holder power. $1000 each from 50,000 serious fans = $50 million. I for 1would absorb the loss for a good movie using 300 for its basis but with the capacity to be much better.
They should get Frank Miller’s creative powers behind them if they’re serious, he’s the perfect man, his impressive background in making Batman fans forget about Adam West ,being the mind behind another out there fantasy/scifi movie Robocop not to mention graduating from comics and scripts to get movie making experience with Sin City and 300
August 12th, 2009 at 10:25 pm
I HOPE UMA THURMAN IS IN THE MOVIE!!!!!!!!!!!!
August 14th, 2009 at 4:59 pm
well whats the big deal about it being cgi I would rather see a live action one
August 28th, 2009 at 3:09 pm
WTF? Quit whining. At least there’s a Thundercats movie coming out. Who cares if it’s live or not? I for one, would rather see a live version, but hey, have you seen transformers? Man that sucked. If everyone gets uptight and gives this one a bad name, we’ll NEVER see a live one. If this one shows potential, maybe they’ll WANT to take risks. I can’t WAIT to see this, either way, it’ll be on my DVD rack the day it goes up for sale, even.
September 8th, 2009 at 11:14 pm
if it aint live action it won’t be as good and it won’t catch the public eye
September 12th, 2009 at 3:04 pm
Thundercats is huge worldwide! I live in Ontario Canada and grew up with the Thundercats being my favourite cartoon and had all the action figures. All my friends are also super pumped about the possibility of a movie. Bottom line though what so many other people have been saying if this movie is all CGI and no live actors there is no way in hell I’ll watch it! I’d much rather sit down and watch the box sets of the 80’s cartoon.
Seriously though what’s the hold up? A huge profit will be made on making this movie with real actors. Look at Transformers and GI Joe they are all from the same time period and look how successful those movies have been. Obviously snarf and the special effects will be CGI but if this movie is going to be all CGI don’t even bother making it because its a disgrace and huge disappointment to the real fans!
September 14th, 2009 at 5:58 am
it be cool to see this but it will be like the arig cartoon but with updated special affects dont get me wrong it will be nice to see a classic up and running again but we all know how the thundercats get here it will be too sim to the arig i would rather see a live action first where the special affects would like more cooler and to see it life like with be pretty neat after that to see it as a cgi animated movie should hap next after that first i hear its going to be live action then i hear its going to be animated come people why doesnt some one get the storry straight.but if its animated after all i def think Larry Kenney should do the voice cause lets face it peeps no one could ever do the voice like him they could try but wouldnt do it justice after the cgi movie they might do a live action depending on how well the cgi does i bet it would be cool to see a live action one like transformers or spiderman etc.. how about seeing a live action one of voltron seeing the lions come to life like transformers would be cool.anyhow does any one know the email of Larry Kenney if so could ya email me it for years been wanting to conversate with him to say how much of a fan i am of his work and of the series and to ask other ?S well my email is peace35@hotmail.com thanks alot for it its much appriciated thundercats forever hhhooooooo
September 22nd, 2009 at 9:32 pm
why are people moaning about thundercats being cgi? apparently there are some of the top guys from the gaming industry working on it. aside from that it, was originally a cartoon, so animation would allow much more creative stuff to go on. any live action film would be entirely green screened anyway. the only reason to have live action would be to make a crappy blockbuster cop out. and anyone who wants vin diesel to be panthro should be lynched. thundercats was seriously well animated when it was made in something like 1983, hopefully the animation now will be equally as good for the modern era. if they pull this off, we could be in for an amazing film , as long as they get larry kenney etc in to do the voices, and get the movement, style and pure awsomeness of the of the characters right. hopefully they bang out at least two films pretty quick. one with a brief origin story: exploding thundera, crashing on 3rd earth, building thundercats lair etc, in the style of exodus, with a bit of orginal story bolted on with some mutant fighting and the eventual arrival of mumm-ra. this could then be followed pretty shortly (maybe summer then christmas) by an epic origanal story with a few classic baddies in the mix. they gotta use the origanal theme and score as well. they both ruled.

FINALY what i have been hopeing for
i have been waiting for many years for this
this was one of my childhood shows to watch
October 2nd, 2009 at 8:44 pm
I am worried that it would be like the TMNT CGI movie which looked too much like a computer game and not like a movie. If Weta Workshop, ILM or Pixar involved in the project would make it more like a movie that the fans want and deserve. I agree a hellboy style movie might be not what we all want but some proper movie company involvement would be better than computer game artists
October 15th, 2009 at 5:18 pm
that reeks! like when they remade TMNT and did it in CGI…they shoulda stuck to the tradition and did it live action…and thats what they need to do with this…imagine how whack transformers 1 & 2 woulda been if that was CGI…(i’m still gonna see it thou:P)
October 18th, 2009 at 6:58 am
For Liono should be Mel Gibson for the Movie of Brave Heart and Cheetara should be Ali Larter or Angelina Ajulie and the soot of LIono is Identical of the GLadiator the soot of Liono and Simple Blue is time to get another soot just like the Transformers and The X-men and Batman liono to thanks
October 27th, 2009 at 3:12 pm
im devistated its going to be CGI with todays technology they could do pretty much anything!!! im not lookin forward to this now at all im gutted damn these people
November 8th, 2009 at 7:08 pm
I for one am glad that it will be CGI. There are just so many tthings that can’t be done in live action and still look fluid and realistic. If they used live actors it would look stupid. For one, they would not look good in the original costumes from the cartoon and I don’t want that to change like it did when they did X-MEN. I understand why they made the change, imagine Hugh Jackman in yellow and blue spandex…not pretty. I doesn’t work for live action, thus the wordrobe changes. And then there is Lion-O, You can’t have him without the flame like hair and that would look rediculous in live action. Also the actors won’t be as fit as the cartoon versions. Then there is the fact that the characters looks that we have come to love and adore would now be completely different. Sure they would have good makeup on, but they would still look like the actor who is portraying them and not the original character. If they did decide to go with hollywood actors I wouldn’t mind if it was done like Beowulf where the actors voice and likeness are present but the physical aspects of the character are original to the source material. Then there are the vehicles from the cartoon that would now have to be changed to work for live action. That is why I think the CGI is a good way to go and it doesn’t have to look cartoony. I mean look at Final Fantasy Advent Children and Beowulf. Maybe the story wasn’t the greatest but the animation was top notch and looked very live action in appearance as apposed to the CGI TMNT which the Turtles looked good but the humans didn’t look real, they look like cartoon characters in that they were not proportionate like a real human such as they looked in FFAC where they did look real. Plus we have come a long way since FFAC and we could possibly make it look even better. Take the new Avatar CGI movie coming out now (not the last air bender). The Blue natives in that movie look pretty sweet. That is why I am glad they are going with CGI and I hope it is more like FFAC and not Beowulf because I want the original voice of Lion-O and who ever else they can get from the cartoon to do the voices and for the characters faces and appearance to look like they did in the cartoon. Plus how gay would a live action Lion-O look in that blue getup of his…pretty gay. It just wouldn’t work any other way and if you really think about it and go back and watch the cartoon, I think you’ll agree.
November 11th, 2009 at 8:51 pm
Please don’t make it CGI. I understand what everyone is saying that want to make it a full animated version, but something of such magnitude for us 80s kids can be nothing short of fantastic. A live action/CGI mix would be perfect. ‘Kit and ‘Kat can still be teenagers, kids do stunt work in movies all the time. Snarf can be CGI, I wouldn’t care about that. Panthro can be the black guy from Underworld. Cheetara can be the chick from Electra. Tigra can be just about anybody that’s buff in holywood, I don’t care about him. The only thought that would have to be given would be to Lion-O. Maybe some unknown actor so that noone has any expectations. As a matter of fact, you could do that with all the characters. Dark Knight showed us that they can do amazing things with the vehicles, so I’m not too worried about that. The main thing about making these movies from our generation is to make it where we believe it can actually happen in our current world. Transformers and G.I. Joe did a good job of that. So did the Hulk, Superman, Fantastic Four, and Spiderman. CGI would just make me feel like they should have just re-released the original cartoon and not wasted their money. To CGI mix, but that might be pushing it.
M.A.S.K, SilverHawks, Tigersharks, and the Centurions would be nice, but I’m probably pushing my luck.
You could even do some kid movies with the Littles, the Monchichis, the Smurfs, and the Snorks. Those can be CGI and I would still be mildly interested, but not Thundercats, not the classics.
Point being, the 80s rocked as far as cartoons. Give the fans what they want and do it live action with needed CGI. All CGI would go straight to video, which would be bad for everybody.
November 12th, 2009 at 5:46 pm
they can do thudercats live, they ruin good cartoons by CGI who does it they need to do live acters and actresses please dont ruin another great cartoon with CGI tranformeres was great live and so was G I Joe eexcept they change the story a little as long as you stay true to the cartoon it be good
November 13th, 2009 at 9:36 pm
i am soooooooooo!!!!!!!!!! happy.
November 13th, 2009 at 9:37 pm
next the wonder woman origins movie.
November 22nd, 2009 at 6:57 am
Personaly doing a thudercate live have linnets that can’t be done. Making this movie CGI, there no linnets. I be great to watch this movie in CGI.
I dont know when TMNT cane out it was really cool, even though there was people whereing the suits. Love the very first moive. The TMNT CGI was also great. Charters don’t move tricks. Guess it can be blance out…
Only thing I do hope for thundercats that they keep it true. Not really reinventing a lot. I really was not impress with the reinventing of GI Joe. To me wish too see diffirent out fits. Sailor a sailor, army, ect… But well I not being paid to make movies. but it be ok to at least express my thoughts….
November 22nd, 2009 at 12:41 pm
Oh…..no..not in full CGI. Please do it with mix of live action + CGI. I still remember when I was kid running with my toy sword after watching Thunder Cats. Feel good about this movie….looking forward..
November 25th, 2009 at 4:39 pm
If it was live action I might have payed to see it but its not so I myself am not even going to go see it. I just wait for the dvd.
November 28th, 2009 at 4:34 pm
All CGI haters Shut up these people know what they are doing, Live adaptation would look stupid for the ThunderCats there is so much more they can do with CGI haven’t y’all scene those corny ass fan trailers now if they do it like Beowulf It will be a great movie so stop hating on CGI
December 1st, 2009 at 9:37 am
i wanna c live action with cgi touch ups….. come on hugh jackman as lion-o…. angels would sing at the sight of that…
December 2nd, 2009 at 12:33 am
Have they said anything else about the script other than who is working on it. I had hoped the movie would be live but can live with animation as long as its a decent script. If it’s something like what Wildstorm did with the last comic by putting panthro with Cheetara I will be pissed. I love both characters but I hope They finish what they started and put Liono-o with Cheetara.
Other questions I’m wondering about:
Are the kittens going to be older?
How about Pumyra and Bengali?
Who is the villian? If its Mummra then they need to make him really wicked.
How many years in the fuure from the last show will it be?
I’d hope to see a live version of the Thunder Tank but maybe that’s in the future. God knows out of all the 80’s cartoons TCats was the best.
Having well known Hollywood stars play these characters would have probably made the live version really expensive but they could have gone with unkown actors.
In the end I’ve waited 20 years to see a TCat movie and I hope 2010 is the year.
December 7th, 2009 at 8:59 pm
i just want to say there has not been any remakes of Thundercats since the 80’s unlike Transformers and GI Joe. with all these new comics and/or cartoon shows being made into live movies and being just completly badass. im very excited to see a thundercats movie but to have made into a full cgi movie i believe is completely wrong. think about it having a full sized customed made thundertank would be awesome. also u know there goin to make more than just one movie they cant beat mumm-ra in a hour and a half.
December 13th, 2009 at 5:36 am
I would love to see a live Thunder Tank as well.
Also the sword of omens would have to be slammin as well. If they mess those to things up it will dissappoint alot of folks.
December 14th, 2009 at 6:27 pm
Heeeeeeeeeyyyyyyy!!!!! thats so exciting!!!!!!!
It was my cartoon series when I was young, I would do anything to watch this movie. Am so so so so so so so so so so Happy…….. Thankyou all, will ask all my friends all across the world to watch this movie and remember our childhood days!!!!

Cheers again…….. cant stop writing, am so excited!!!!!
December 14th, 2009 at 6:34 pm
Ok am getting a DVD right now, cost does not matter, my Nostalgia does!!!!!!!!!
December 17th, 2009 at 3:01 pm
a cgi movie huh….. which genius thought that through. this franchise has the potential to eclipse star wars. all the ingredients are there. all that is needed is someone to finance making lion-o and the team a reality (i.e can use cgi in a live action movie like 300 did). it would be delightful to see the sword of omans doing anything in a live action movie. from calling the thundercats with that red light that shoots into the air or just him checking on his collegues from the sisght beyond sight. reading these comments has really put me off the movie and we should all be demanding more as true fans.
December 19th, 2009 at 1:32 pm
I realy Believe this movie is gonna be awesome and I know thy haven picked the cast yet. I also believe this movie is gonna be so full of action that its gonna be spectacular. If the CGI is gonna be anything like the Beowulf movie, I say hold on to your butts because its gonna be an awesome ride. Cartoon and comic book movies have come a long way. the fans out there have been wondering “what if”, you know? Everyone has been talking about it for so long. I, myself as an animator and graphic designer understand the potential of the directors of this upcoming film is out of sight. This movie is gonna change the face of the entertainment industry.
December 24th, 2009 at 1:35 am
What a crock. A cgi animated movie? Meanwhile we get a live action movie of marmaduke? WTF?!? When is hollywood gonna realize that this could be the greatest live action movie ever made?
December 28th, 2009 at 6:49 pm
Please don’t make this movie CG Spider-man Kicked ass live action as did Iron Man,Blade,Wolverine. Please I’m 27yrs. old I grew up watching the show. I own them now on DVD and my twin 2yr. olds love it. I can definitely promise that if it’s CG that myself and 100+ of my other thundercats fans my friends won’t pay to see it. We’ll wait for it on tv we’ve discussed this already.
January 5th, 2010 at 11:43 pm
I’m a big fan of thundercats. I grew up watching it every day after school when I was young. I had/have the original toys still. What’s the diff if its cgi? Did anyone notice that parts of a lot of the big movies were part cgi and you didn’t know? Wolverine, spiderman, G.I. Joe. To name a few had a lot of cgi help. Either way, cgi or not, I will go watch it when it comes out.
January 6th, 2010 at 8:40 pm
YYYYYYYEEEEEEEESSSSSSSS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
THUNDER CATS…. HHOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!
January 13th, 2010 at 2:47 am
Please don’t make cgi !!! My 2yr old is obsessed with thundercats and I never watch cgi. I will also not go to see it if it’s cgi. I’m sick of cgi already, it never does as good as live action. I WANT LIVE ACTION PLEEEEAAAASSSSEEEE!!!!!!!!
January 14th, 2010 at 8:31 am
CGI would incorporate all that we know of Thundercats. We would not like a series like that go under like lets say, “Street Fighter: The Legend of Chun-Li ” Making it CGI, which no one has seen a trailer of the movie,no one knows how well they have drafted the characters as of yet. Of course the story might change from what we rememberof the cartoon, ie: X-men, because of different audiences. No matter what happens if Larry Kenney isok with it, thenit must be good enough for Lion-O. Then it shouldbe good enough for the rest of us.
January 14th, 2010 at 11:45 pm
I agree. They have the technology to make this into a live action movie! I never thought Transformers was possible but now theres 2 and a third in the pipeline. Retros come back into fashion! Its a perfect time to bring Thundercats to life!!!
January 14th, 2010 at 11:48 pm
Unless its the sort of CG used in Avatar and make it in 3D… But I doubt they would use such a budget.
January 16th, 2010 at 4:19 am
CGI?? That Sucks. I may as well wait for the video game rather than the movie. It will probably have better special effects, and I get to play the character. Why watch a movie with modern day, video game quality special effects. Transformers was huge when it launched. Loved watching Transformers when I was a kid. I also loved to watch Thundercats too. If it isn’t live, it isn’t worth it. CGI is the modern day equivalent to a cartoon. The people who grew up watching it, myself included (being 28 years old), don’t want to watch action cartoons anymore. We just want the action!! I see enough cartoons with the kids.
January 20th, 2010 at 6:54 am
I think that CGI can be acceptable, but the characters would have to be actors to give the movie the real sensation. Who doesn’t use light and magic, special effects, or computer animation in almost every movie? CGI is nice, but I can relate to it on ogres, talking donkeys, and transformers, not thundercats; Besides… everybody else complains that full CGI is not good enough for thunderscats. It’s just weird !!! Beside every thundercats fan would like to see their favorite characters come to life. I fell asleep watching transformers because the story sucked. GI-Joe story was soo boring. I’m sorry if I offended anyone, but I don’t really care how many building or people you blow up; the story has to amuse me, and make my heart move with passion. CGI means nothing to me.
January 23rd, 2010 at 6:44 pm
The 80s absolutely ROCKED as far as cartoons go and Thunder Cats was the best!! I would like to see a mix of live action an CGI the impossible stuff lol if you have Comcast, Thunder Cats is On Demand under Kids, Kids WB section I am watching it now with my 6yr old son…. we had the best cartoons!! And I wouldn’t mind it being an R rated movie because those of us that watched it when it came out… we are all adults now and I’m sure we have ALL imagined the Thunder Cats in more adult situations!! Lol Can’t wait for the movie!!
January 25th, 2010 at 1:03 pm
CGI or live action. live action WITH CGI DUH! Who made more money and was a way better movie, Beowulf or Avatar. have you SEEN the money Avatar is raking in? Also, not that I don’t like kids, but I do not relish the idea of sharing opening day of this movie with a million screaming children if they go the total CGI route. Plus, i saw that fake trailer on youtube, and it looked AWESOME. If people are worried about crappy actors, think about how many GOOD actors are probably also Thundercats fans and would wet themselves to be in the movie.
January 27th, 2010 at 7:13 am
I could count probably close to 25 people to every ONE of you who thinks CGI is better than a live action movie…….Plain and simple CGI would suck. Those of you who think that live action actors couldnt pull off the look, then maybe you should stick to watching cartoons. I’ll admit, at first I wasnt too thrilled about the changes in costume for movies like the X-Men, BUT it really did make sense, AND made the characters more believable….Im sure the experts would be able to pull off something. After all, the world of Thundercats is set in a sort of 10,000 B.C ish or even an alternate earth, so semi-outlandish clothes or dress may not look too out of place. Its not like they’re trying to fit the Thundercats into the modern everyday society. The CGI fans also complain that they cant incorporate Snarff and A Wylie Kitt or Katt? LOL Seriously…so….all of you who are CGI fans…..really wouldnt mind if they made Snarff a CGI in a live action movie then (Irony) As for The cubs..Well They did a good job making Hobbits didnt they? Im sure they could work something out in Hollywood. And last of all, the CGI fans all keep saying the same thing…”you cant do the special effects or acrobatics with live action”….OMG wake up..Spiderman? Avatar? Should I continue?
February 5th, 2010 at 9:10 am
I’m pretty anctious about this one.
CGI can be awesome, just look at ‘Avatar’
Live action could be better but if the story sucks… the movie sucks. The Transformers movie was a insane complement to todays animation ‘know how’.
But be fair, the story telling was just as bad as the animation was good, especialy in part 2.
For Thundercats i don’t care if it’s gonna be CGI or live action, as long as the story is good. And i hope they stay true to the series.
February 6th, 2010 at 5:34 pm
I will be so disappointed if this movies ended up CG, I mean look at all the movies that used to be cartoons now made real on the big screen. They’re great. Transformers, X-man, Iron man, Spider man, Batman, i was mad enough when they TMNT was animated when the other movies weren’t. Honestly with what they can do with technology today there is no excuse whey this movie cant be live… none at all. I was so excited to hear about a Thundercats movie coming out that i couldn’t wait to tell my brothers and sisters who all grew up watching the show but I’m sorry im just not going to waste my time. They’d feel the same as me DISAPPOINTED.
February 7th, 2010 at 4:07 pm
CGI??? Why the hell would they do that? Like the Beowulf movie? That’s not good!!!! I would love to see those actors on that FAN MADE trailer of thundercats portray it for real… Vin Diesel being Panthro??? THAAT’S GONNA BE AWESOME!!! Just make it like TRANSFORMERS not like Beowulf… Hated that…
February 10th, 2010 at 8:21 pm
i can’t wait for it to comeout. i just saw a fan made trailer and it kicked ass!! my 3 year old loves thundercats now too thanks to me finding it on demand and getting him one of the boxed sets. i don’t see why they couldn’t do cgi for some stunts and other things and live actors around it
February 18th, 2010 at 8:19 pm
Actors are overpaid. CGI will allow the director/writers to make the movie the way they want it without having some prima donna actors draining the budget.
February 24th, 2010 at 8:20 pm
CGI??? SO NOT LIKE THE BEOWULF MOVIE… THIS MOVIE LOOKS GREAT AND I DO THINK THEY USED LIVE ACTORS… I AM SEEING TRAILERS OF THE DAMN MOVIE AND IT LOOKS BETTER THAN BEOWULF… SO INSTEAD OF TRASHING IT TAKE A LOOK OF THE MOVIE BECAUSE TRUE FANS WILL SEE THE MOVIE BEFORE JUDGING IT… I AM JUST SAYING… I AM A HUGE FAN AND I CANT WAIT FOR IT TO COME OUT… I CAN AGREE THAT TMNT SHOULD HAVE STAYED THE WAY IT CAME OUT BUT I GUESS THE PRODUCERS AND DIRECTORS THOUGHT DIFFERENTLY… I SEE IT THIS WAY, IF YOU DONT WORK FOR THE INDUSTRY THAN NO NEED FOR NEGATIVITY… WATCH AND THEN CRITICIZE WHAT IS SEEN… DONT JUDGE A MOVIE BY ITS DESCRIPTION…
March 2nd, 2010 at 8:38 pm
IMDB says this movie is not coming out until 2012 - so there is still a 2 year wait…..
March 6th, 2010 at 3:04 am
Hello all, I’m 29 and a fan from way back. i have the entire series on dvd. I was so excited when they released the dvd sets. I grew up watching thundercats. Number 1 show of all time to me. I loved it so much 4 yrs ago I got my second tattoo the thundercats logo….I thank god for bringing us Ted Wolf. His brilliant mind for bringing us this great series was a blessing. Great characters good vs evil and life lessons in every episode nothing compared to that show and even todays cartoons dont compare. Thunder…..Thunder….Thundercats Ho!!!!!!!
March 10th, 2010 at 1:49 pm
Don’t make it cgi..it will make a great movie.. The people who know the thundercats are adults.. We want to see actual movie.. If we want to see the cartoons we can just watch the old shows..
A big fan,
Richard Johnson
March 11th, 2010 at 12:27 pm
I hope they dont kill it like they did for tmnt 4, please, please don’t make thundercats half arse
March 21st, 2010 at 6:19 pm
If this really comes to be….I WILL be the FIRST on line. I guarantee you that. In my opinion, this was the greatest action cartoon of all time! Forget He-man! Lion-O and Cheetara, Panthro and the Thunderkits, and who could forget old Snarf? This cartoon was and still is AWESOME!! To say the very least. Watch out or Mum-rah will get you……
March 24th, 2010 at 12:26 am
I think Lion-o should be the rock in make up Michael Clark Ducan should be pantro and jaga should be shawn connary. The rest of the cast is fine. Think about it Lion-o and pantro are supposed to be the strongest out of the group based of the cartoon and the rock and michael Clark Dunan play well of each other
April 7th, 2010 at 3:16 am
I’d have to say I side with those wanting a live-action movie. With the technology available today along with the obvious success of Transformers, Hulk, X-Men, Spiderman and such they have to know that all the adults that grew up watching Thundercats would literally drag their kids to see a live-action movie of it!! LOL! CGI…I’ll wait for the DVD and buy it then…it’s cheaper than taking the fam to the theater.
April 12th, 2010 at 4:48 pm
Look, Live action would be really fun to see you guys. But I think if they bust thier asses and make a CGI film the right way , then it could be really good. Im talking using cell shading and giving the sharpest quality to the picture and then put the bitch in 3d! I can imagine this movie being the greatest episode of thundercats ever! Just be thankful the cats are coming back and support the project…. unless it turns out its crap. lol I swear if hollywood messes this one up then I will officially lose my faith in the movie business. Thundercats! Ho!
April 22nd, 2010 at 6:47 pm
To all of you saying that CGI would be a waste:
STOP! If the studio makes this and it sells then we might see other franchises made into films.
Anyone that saw The rise of cobra will agree sometimes even live action does not do justice
to shows they are based on. I myself do not care as long as it put together well and makes the cut as far as the shows story and epic feel.
May 2nd, 2010 at 2:45 am
Please no cartoon out of this, I will not watch it. I watched TMNT and shut the stupid movie down. I’ll watch repeats of the old ninja turtle movies before I watch TMNT. People do not want a cartoon out of this and it does not need to be one. I was excited when i heard about it and not at all now, knowing it’s a cartoon. Us original fans have seen the cartoon, we want the real thing and kids will enjoy the real deal also. Transformers is awesome, had that been a cartoon i would never have watched it and many others wouldn’t either. We want our childhood heroes brought to life. Make it life like, make the first movie just a simple good story with a good ending. If you’re any good at all with making movies it’s not hard. Sounds like Michael Bay needs to be in on the new Thundercat movie. He wouldn’t waste his time with a cartoon. Like I said, we been there, done that with cartoons. Even if you have to only give them fangs, cat eyes and some claws because you don’t have good make up artists, do it that way and give it a good story but please whatever you do, don’t destroy the Thundercats with a cartoon. You know if it is made as a cartoon there will never be a sequel. It’s cheap and it’s garbage. If it’s a cartoon it surely isn’t worth going to the theater and watching nor is it worth ever renting. Maybe if someone brought the cartoon to my house i might watch pieces of it. If you want me at the theater on opening night of the new Thundercat movie, make it along the same lines as X-Men, Transformers and all the other super hero movies and I can promise I’ll be at the theater for the big event as I was with Transformers 1 and 2. You turn this thing into a cartoon and i may see glimpses of it by 2020 if it airs on cable television by then.

Dear fellow fans,
A CGI film of our beloved series would be a total injustice to the series. If a CGI is made, then i’m happy coz I AM GOING TO MAKE A JUSTIFIED LIVE-ACTION FILM of THUNDERCATS.It will be never be a one-dimensional CGI-laden rubbish but something universally enigmatic and spiritually enlightening laden with the best visuals ever. The characters of Lion-O,Jaga,Mum- Ra will be fully fleshed out,so will Panthero,Tigra,Cheetara and others.
It will be tough to adapt a cartoon series with humaniod cats in leathers into an acceptable live action but i have a GREAT IDEA!!It will a revolutionary film in terms of its genre, origin and depiction. It will definitely be high-budgeted,in the region of $200 million plus.See fellas,it was a beloved series in the 80’s when we ere kids..i’m 29 now…its completely alien to today’s kids and so its the case with tomorrow’s kids.
We have to re-hype the world about Thundercats and re-capture the frenzy it was back in the 80’s to ensure it will be a massive box-office hit. Why?
Only then the studio bigwigs will churn out $200 million plus for the budget and i can get it made the way it deserves.I must convince them that the money can be returned to them multi-fold.
If we want our beloved series to soar again,we gotta do it big time!!No kidding !!
Meanwhile, let’s see how good is the CGI version, if gets made in the place!!

I really love this cartoon and I pray it comes out this year 2010 or at least 2011. It would be introduce to a whole another generation in a positive light. On a personal note I was the character Cheetara she was my favorite because she could run really fast and I couldn’t….. LOL ….. The Bottom line is I love this cartoon and I can’t wait for it to get to the BIG Screen!!!

Let’s be honest. All of the movies that made millions at the box office and change the true scope of movie making utilized some aspect of CGI. Lord of the Rings, SpiderMan, Blade II, Avatar, I-Robot… The list goes on. The greatest action scenes are now achieved by CGI. CGI does not mean a cheesy cartoon. It means the action and adventure reguired to pull of a good story line can and will be achieved.
